December 28, 2008

On December 25th, we spent a nice Christmas day together. It was so good to be able to make an already special day even more special by spending it with the whole family. Below are a couple pictures I took of Grandpa, Grandma, and the Grandkids.

Brad (Jocelyn's Son)

In the early morning hours on Boxing Day (December 26) Jocelyn had a seizure at home and was brought to Welland Hospital, where she is now an inpatient. She had one more seizure after getting to the hospital but no more since then. At this time the doctors and nurses are trying to get her bone pain better controlled. Although weak and tired, Jocelyn is alert. She has a great sense of peace and is confident of the love of God, family and friends. Christmas is the time of celebrating Emmanuel, God with us. Truly God is with Jocelyn, John and the boys even during this time.

Kathy (Jocelyn's sister-in-law)

When I stumble, He steadies me!

John and Jocelyn: We were just given your blog address today. I read it with some emotion. You may not realize the effect your testimony has on those who read your lines. They are the truest kind of witness. But it aches to know it has to be done in these circumstances

We will pray for the peace He promises to leave with us and the assurance of His nearness. What a blessing to have the support of not only family, but of a family of faith.
Love to you both, and to the boys. You now have two more faithful blog-watchers and prayer partners.

Dear Jocelyn, John and family,

I confess that my emotions provided a temporary lobotomy for my faith last night as I was praying for you. I practically shook my fist and asked how my merciful Jesus could allow more upon more when you're already standing firm under the weight of so much. I know He's good, but it was in there so I had to get it out...

Tenderly He reminded me of Job when Job said, "Though He slay me yet will I serve Him." It wasn't God who raised His hand against Job - it was the enemy - that roaring lion seeking to destroy. And I saw a picutre in my mind of a very angry lion, frustrated beyond measure that he couldn't get you and yours to curse God. He flung another blow at you and to those of us who love you and read your blogs.

And then He reminded me of the man who was blind. The disciples asked Jesus if it was that man or his parents that sinned and caused his blindness. And Jesus told them that neither the man nor his parents - it was allowed (not sent, but allowed) for that moment in time -to glorify God.

And so my spirit calms as yours seems to have remained...God doens't need the glory - isn't a glory hound. But in these beyond extreme times you do indeed glorify Him, for He is always good even when we are under the severest of attacks.

My prayer time ended with these gifts to share - verses familiar to you, and yet given so I pass them on:

Rom 8:18 (no, not 28!)
For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us! (Amplified)

Vs, 35:
Who shall ever separate us from Christ's love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation> Or calamity and distress? Or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword? (to vs. 38) For I am persuaded beyond doubt that neither deal nor life, not angels not principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, now powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen and amen- you remain with me constantly in my heart and prayers,
Cyn
