Update from the Family.

On Wednesday (the day after the last update), Jocelyn had gammaknife radio surgery to try to control the cancer that spread to her brain. She came through that well, although the procedure was exhausting.
She recently developed a new pain in her hip, and she went back to the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton Friday afternoon. It turned out there was a tumour in her hip which caused a partial hairline fracture. This morning, she had surgery to repair the bone and strengthen it. We hope this will allow her to walk better without pain and prevent a more serious fracture down the road.
As you imagine, this has been a very difficult week for Jocelyn, John, and the rest of the family. John and Jocelyn have been at 6 different medical centres in the space of a week. At the same time, God still can be counted on to provide strength and courage and perspective for each day. For this, and for your prayers, thoughts, and e-mails, we are grateful.
We don't know how long Jocelyn will be in the hospital; if all goes well, maybe she'll be home with-in the week. In the meantime, we ask that family and friends not come to the hospital to visit. When she is back home and on her feet we hope she will be up to visitors then. We will keep you posted in the meantime.

John and Jocelyn i am so devasted about this news. I cannot understand what is happening and i feel so badly and upset for you and i cannot find the words for you right now to help build you up and i feel so guilty about that. I wish this would all go away. I have been praying so hard for you and you have been and are still going through so much and i wish there were more answers as to what is happening and what we can do for you. You are always in my thoughts. I am so concerned for you. I feel that there is nothing good enough to say at this poit other then to say that we love you very much, we are always praying for you and you are NEVER far from my thoughts. I look forward to these updates to see how you are doing. I want you to be able to feel that peace that you have so many of us supporting you. I pray for healing from this surgery so you may be able to get around better again. Thankyou for updating us and letting us in on your journey through all of this. We need to know how you are. You are a special friend, love Brenda

Father God - Papa...we pray, not because we think we're twisting your arm or changing Your mind. Your mercies are new every day! We pray because we know we are helpless and because we love Jocelyn and her whole family. We pray because none of this makes sense to us, and because we are hungry for healing, strength, courage and so much more. And we pray because we long to support Jocelyn - we need you to teach us more of how to do that.

I pray for You to be tangible to Jocelyn and John - to remove the veil between Heaven and earth and for them to feel the strength of Your arms secure around Your precious children. We trust You Lord - are sure of Your intimate involvement in this situation and in their lives. We agree with You that in this world we will have trials but that our home is wherever You are - that anything that is good here is a mere foretaste of the abundant life You have prepared for us. We affirm that we love You and we will not give ground to the enemy who would bring discouragement and fear. Fear can't abide where love abides and so we reaffirm the love we have for Jocelyn and John and their family and in so doing we leave no room for fear - only peace that makes absolutely no sense to those who don't know You.

And I pray, Sweet Jesus, Who knows better than we could, to keep Jocelyn's mind and heart fixed on You and help her to rest well in the love of those You gave to love her so well.

We praise You that Your compassions fail not - that seeming evidence to the contrary is a house built on sand. We stand on firm ground with You and we're thankful for that. Thank You for "strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow..."

Amen

Cous' - you will remain in my prayers and thoughts and best hopes!

Love you,
Cyn

Jocelyn........ in your earlier posts you wrote about the book of Daniel. I was so in awe of your faith and strength .... you inspired me to pick up my bible( I'm embarassed to say it had been awhile) I started with Daniel. And when I read your blog last night I thought if God could save Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the firey furnace they were put in, and Daniel from the lions den....... we know that he has the healing hands to heal you too!!!!! We are praying everyday that God will grant you healing, strength, and peace. We hope that you feel the caring thoughts and tons of prayers that are being sent your way!!!!

Dear Jocelyn & John
I'm not sure what to do, not even sure what to say, but one thing is sure, I promise to pray.
The hands that fashioned the universe are strong enough to heal you and gentle enough to hold you. May you find rest and healing in the arms of our loving Father.
"He shall feed His flock like a shepherd; He shall gather the lambs with His arms and carry them in His bosom". Isaiah 40:11

Jocelyn! I've been talking to Brad a lot and getting updates. I really wish I could see you and chat with you and give you a big hug! Just know that I love you, and have been praying for you and your entire family during this time. I've got my entire youth group praying for you. You're a beautiful woman of God, and I just pray that you will experience His peace during this time! Much much much love!
Love Kim

(ps I was going to email you, but Brad told me that they print off these comments for you to read...so I thought I would have a better chance this way)

I pray that God will open your senses to His realm. To see, hear, feel His peace, joy, love. To walk along side HIm and feel His presence, in the pasture and along side the river. As you walk with God you will know and have the peace that "Everything will be okay. God is in control."
It is a wonderful place to be.
This is my pray for you.
Ps. 46:10

Jocelyn, i feel very badly that we had to miss out on our visit, i hope to still do that when you feel a bit stronger, you will have to let me know. Wow, you really get to feel the communion of the saints in troubled times like this. I am in awe as to how many people are praying for you and your family. Prayer is the strongest tool we have. I have been reading these comments to you and lately after reading them i am reminded of the song "When Peace Like A River", we all want you to feel that peace that God IS in control, for then and only then will we be able to say it is well with our soul. You are always in my thoughts, please call if you need me for anything, love always,Brenda

Hey Jocelyn,
You gotta know amazing things are happening at Rose city kids!! Doors are opening everywhere and there are new funding opportunities! Your prayers for Rose city kids and making others aware have been a huge blessing to this ministry! We have been praying for a facility we could rent or purchase that we could call our own- and those prayers have been answered! Right in the same building we already rent- a theatre room was offered to us. This is a huge blessing! A big room,a stage, lighting,an office, a storage room, wow!..what more could we ask for! This means we dont have to set up, and take down every saturday. We have space we can call our own and set up permamently. We also have been recieving calls from individuals and organizations that want to help financially. We are recieving calls from individuals that want to volunteer. We were blessed yesterday to share with over 60 children the wonderful christmas story(to some that never heard before). The kids were so attentive! We were also able to bless each child with a christmas present and stocking and a wonderful christmas meal. God is so Good! I know for a fact, we wouldnt be where we are today if it wasnt for your cries for help, your daily prayers and your excitement in doing whatever it took to make a differnce for the kids in welland. God has amazing things planned for this ministry. We cant wait to unfold them as they come our way! I just wanted you to know that you are an amazing woman of God and that you can be proud of everything you poured into Rose city kids. Every door you knocked in the cold of winter, every flyer you designed and printed, every binder you slapped together, every visit you made, every wee hour of the morning you stopped to pray for the kids in welland- it was all worth it!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for being so strong yesterday and joining us at the Rose city kids christmas celebration. Your presence there just made our day extra special and meaningful. That was the greatest!!! Thank you! You stay strong girl! And whenever you need a hug- you just call and Ill be right there in a heart beat! Friends forever! Love ya! Sonya
