September 11, 2008 10:00 PM UPDATE

We are so very grateful to report that Jocelyn has come through her surgery well. Dr. Wells was able to remove the tumor, and Jocelyn was awake and fully alert just two hours after the surgery. She is now in her hospital room resting. She wants to specifically thank Dr. Wells (her neurosurgeon), Maya (her recovery room nurse), and the whole team of nurses and doctors who are taking care of her. Surely they are evidence of God's caring hands.

We are all blessed by your prayers, kind wishes, cards, and love. We are printing up your blog posts for Jocelyn and giving them to her to read. They provide a great sense of being enveloped by your love and our community of friends and family.

Because brain surgery is a major stress on patients, we are asking that you not come to the hospital to visit, so Jocelyn can devote all of her energies to her recovery. The most important thing right now is for her to fully recover from the surgery. Then, she will have further tests to figure out what sorts of treatment she needs down the road. Be assured that we’ll keep you posted as to how things develop.

Join all of us in praising God for his many blessings to us thus far.

We are thanking God with you for this very good report. What a neat testimony to hear that you are thanking Him for His very evident grace shown through the capable surgical and post operative team. We prayed for this team often in the last few days and hours. What thanksgiving fills our heart that Jocelyn came through the surgery so well. We rejoice and continue to petition. God is good and you are examples of His mercy as you journey through this holding tightly to Him.

Well I always knew you were a brainiac Cuz'! Not many people can say that they have so much smarts that a doctor has to remove some of them just to keep it fair for the rest of us. (grin)

I'm so grateful for a good result and now trust that you will REST - probably not in that Voortman DNA of yours - and heal well and we will all (I love that you have such a village of Godly people in your life that I can join in supporting you!!!!) will hold up you and John with our prayers and love for your strength for every step of this journey.

God remains on His throne and is especially fond of you - it's a fact.

Love, warm thoughts and constant prayers,
Cyn

Jocelyn: God is good isn't He? He has watched over you today during the surgery and He will hold you in this time of recovery. Looking forward to seeing you soon. You are a true friend. Your love for so many people is evident when we read what they have said. Thank you for being such a friend to so many people and the love you have for the ministries that you are involved in, like Rose City Kids. You have a passion to share the gospel with those children. Thankyou for that. May God be with you tomorrow as the healing continues. John: We also hold you up in this time. Thanks for the friendship we have with you also.
Remember the words from Psalm 62: 5-8. Find rest, O my soul, in God alone. My hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God, He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him for God is our refuge.

God is faithful to us. God is unchanging. He is our Rock of peace. He is our rock in times of trouble. He lifts us up when we fall down. All through the storms, His love is the anchor. Our hope is in Him alone. Love always from a friend forever, Lorraine

Hi Jocelyn and John,
Gerry and Trudy have shared with us the serious health concerns you are dealing with right now, Jocelyn. We wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you and your family. You are in our prayers. We are thankful that the surgery went well and that you were given God's grace to handle it so remarkably.
We remember the good day we had quite some time ago... biking in the Niagara area with you and John, and Gerry and Trudy. What an enjoyable day that was!
We pray today for God's healing hand upon you. May He bless you and may the hope we have in Jesus fill your (and all our) hearts and minds with his peace.
Love,
Pete and Linda Vannoord
